My love for yoga stems from the simplicity and beauty I feel while practicing daily asana. It has been a lifelong evolution of personal practice, meditation, and mentoring from outstanding fellow yogis. I am blessed to extend this passion to others. The style I share incorporates alignment, flow, and most importantly BREATH. My intention as a teacher is to facilitate external as well as internal awareness through mindful instruction. The journey is yours I only hope to provide support along the path.
Listen to your body, follow your breath, and find your bliss in whatever you choose to do. I look forward to you sharing your beautiful practices with me!

Laurie’s first yoga class was part of her resolution to bring some balance in her life as an advertising executive in bustling NYC. While the yoga helped her destress and detoxify, she realized that more was needed in her life and upped and moved to Maui in January 2014. Once she set foot on Maui, she knew Maui was the place for her and never looked back. “The light and energy in Maui is just magical, and I knew this is where I belong”. She immersed herself in yoga, sunshine, fresh air and ocean water to help her gain a new perspective on life.
Her love for alignment, movement and flow led her to gain her teacher certification at Afterglow studio, and she aspires to share her passion for her practice with her students. Her classes combine a mix of alignment, flow, and strengthen building to allow for a well-balanced practice. In her spare time, you can find Laurie above or below the ocean’s surface, snorkeling, diving, surfing, or SUPing, exploring the best of Maui.

David grew up in Salt Lake City where he loved being active and free in his body weather for mixed martial arts, rock climbing or shreddin’ the gnar (snowboarding). In ’08, he moved to Maui and naturally it wasn’t long before he discovered yoga. He was hooked after his first ashtanga yoga class taught by Nancy Gilgoff.
In 2012, wanting to know more about this practice that had brought such profound positive changes in all areas of his life, David ventured to Rishikesh, India to train as a teacher of traditional hatha yoga. David’s joy is to learn, practice and share this recipe for vibrant health, happiness, peace of mind and authentic living.
“Yoga is the relationship that is built between the body, the mind and the breath. Yoga is creating space free from obstacles in your own body to live. Yoga is freedom and release. I am here to help others find this release so that they can comfortable and competently move their bodies through life.”
Andreas completed his Teacher Training here at Afterglow Yoga. He will always be a student of the practice and is deeply grateful for the loving wisdom his teachers have shared with him.
In his classes, he loves to combine creative sequencing, a spirit of playfulness and a dose of inspiration to help deepen your practice. Andreas seeks to help others thrive in life by nurturing body, mind, and soul with yoga and spiritual life practices, and his hope is that you step off the mat feeling refreshed, nourished and balanced.
Megan was influenced by the lifestyle of Yoga while living in South Africa. Drawn to self-healing through Ayurveda, pranayama, and asana, she was inspired to continue her studies.
Megan completed her 200-hour Teacher Training at Wise Living Yoga Academy, affiliated to The Yoga Institute of Santacruz, Mumbai, India. She is very grateful to her teachers Jeenal Mehta and Daniel Fonseca, for their inspiring teachings based on Classical Yoga, Bhagavad Gita & Shir Yogendra’s methods for practice of Hatha Yoga. Megan completed her 300-hour Teacher Training at Soul of Yoga in Encinitas, CA, expanding her education on the body, Ayurveda, and therapeutic yoga. Her classes are taught with wholeheartedness, compassion and a curiosity for learning through teaching. Megan loves the connection and community that yoga creates, and wishes to cultivate that not only on the mat, but off the mat as well. When not teaching she spends her time creating art or connecting with nature.
Jessika has been practicing yoga since she was 16. The powerful techniques of yogic science helped her to heal herself, as well as to change the course of her life to support others on their own journey.
She grew up in a dance + performance company until a near-death experience at the age of 21 changed her path quickly. She then answered the call to be of service to others on their healing path. In addition to being a KRI certified Kundalini Yoga instructor, Jessika is also a Licensed Acupuncturist, Herbalist, Intuitive Healer, and Birth Doula.
We are all on this beautiful planet Earth at this point in time for a reason. Lift yourself up. Lift each other up.

In 2016, CJ traveled to Chiang Mai to study Thai massage, teach yoga, and find a way to incorporate nature therapy into her practices. On a visa run in Indonesia she decided to try scuba diving after many years of being on land. Her first dive back was her “aha!” moment. Diving was exactly like yoga and the missing link in a quest to marry yoga, healing, and nature therapy. Soon after she started her professional diving education and started to teach diving and yoga as a combined experience. After living out of a backpack for years while diving and teaching yoga around the world, she is grateful to have found a home with my husband on Maui.
“My classes are an eclectic mix of what inspires me. I emphasize breathing, alignment, curiosity, mindfulness, and nonviolence. It is my goal to encourage students to responsibly explore their own capability and test their edge. As we challenge ourselves physically and mentally through yoga to break past what we once thought ourselves capable we begin to realize boundaries as they are traditionally conceived are not as finite as we once thought. Practicing of asana with compassion and without expectation leads us to cosmic consciousness and an understanding of the oneness of creation.”
Stephanie grew up in Potomac, MD, just outside of Washington, D.C. She moved to Nashville, TN in 2009 to attend Vanderbilt University, where she was a Division I swimmer. During the summer of 2010, she was looking for another way to cross-train for swimming and discovered the Pilates Reformer. She quickly fell in love with the workout and realized it was something she wanted to learn to teach.
Stephanie completed her Comprehensive Pilates Certification through Balanced Body in September 2011, and her PMA® certification in December 2014. Stephanie moved to Maui in October 2015 and soon became certified in level 1 Body Barre. In 2016, Stephanie completed her 200hr Yoga Teaching certifcation with Afterglow. She enjoys teaching Pilates and Barre classes because the workouts are continually challenging and extremely beneficial for the body. They have also helped her through shoulder injuries from many years of competitive swimming. As a result, she is driven to help others through their athletic injuries. She believes strongly in the power of movement and the importance of physical fitness for both the mind and body. When not teaching her classes, Stephanie can be found performing as a singer/songwriter and working on paintings for her online Etsy store.
Fitness should be fun and effective and those are just two things you’ll get out of coming to her class. The happiest drill sergeant you’ll ever meet – get ready to burn, sweat and shake your way through class!
Valerie is a big believer that if everyone did a little bit of yoga, the world would simply be a bette place. She has spent the last decade developing her personal practice and received her 200hr and ShaktiRize certification at Afterglow in Maui, Hawaii.
She most enjoys creative sequencing; escaping the mind and taking her students on a journey of movement. Her Fiery Flow classes consist of invigorating asanas that motivate students and align them with their power center. Her Alignment Flow classes move at a slower place focusing on the joys of nurturing the mind, body and spirit in balance. Valerie’s favorite part of teaching is getting to help cultivate self-love and empowerment within her students.
She completed her 200hr yoga teacher training and ShaktiRize training in 2017, and strives on sharing time, movement, consciousness, and energy with all who grace her with their presence in her classes!
Always extremely excited for and fond of the human connections that the practice of yoga empowers on and off the mat. Katrina loves making people feel good about themselves and always down for an adventure too!
“Treat everyone you meet as if they are God in drag.” -Ram Dass
Do you come to your mat ready to find that deep sense of self within? Me too.
I feel home is where the heart is. It is where love grows, self love, that spreads to our families, friends and our community. That love can move out into the world when we live a life honoring our bodies and souls.
As a mother of two beautiful island born babes I believe in finding the balance in life. This is why I’ve dedicated 13 years of my life to helping others find more self love through Therapeutic Massage, Reiki, Plant Medicine and my own personal practice of yoga. I’m so grateful to have received my teacher training certification here at Afterglow Yoga. Three words that would describe my style of teaching is loving, expansive and grounded.
Teaching yoga is my way to say “hey you, love you more and see what happens.”
“Yoga is where we merge the physical with the ethereal; merging our energy body with our mental, emotional, and physical body. It’s where you can truly find home within.”
Bridget credits her studies to the 200-Hour Vinyasa Teacher Training and a 60-Hour Barre Training at Yoga Pod in Denver, Colorado.
Dani is originally from the East Coast, having lived in New Jersey, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Washington D.C. She always had a passion for travel and moving and didn’t hesitate when a job landed her and her family on Maui in 2016.
Dani was introduced to yoga through a friend in 2009 and casually practiced while attending Penn State University. Her real passion did not ignite until she discovered Rocket Yoga (and her teacher Jonathan Ewing) when living across from a shala in D.C. After moving to the California in 2014, Danielle received her 200 hr certification in Ashtanga Yoga from Asta Yoga in San Francisco.
Yoga is about the journey of finding your own personal practice and not taking yourself too seriously along the way. Her classes combine breath and inward focus with a killer playlist and occasional arm balances. Be prepared to leave the mat sweaty, peaceful and smiling!

Originally from New York, Danii works as a special education teacher in the Kihei schools. Prior to moving to Maui she was living in Costa Rica, where she discovered yoga and instantly fell in love with the practice. This began her journey of self discovery, and yoga felt like coming home to the truest part of herself! What Danii loves most about yoga and meditation is the opportunity it provides to deeply dive into yourselves by connecting with your heart and soul. For Danii “Yoga is more than a physical practice, but a lifestyle that encourages loving kindness towards all beings and that allows us to become our brightest most authentic selves”. Danii is passionate about creating space for her students to discover higher self awareness, experience deep healing, and feel the strong connection we have to our heart, to each other, and to the Earth. Passionate about creative expression and the journey of self-exploration, Justine followed her heart to the magical island of Maui to teach yoga and meditation. Before this, she studied medical sciences and made her way to graduate school, but after having experienced the lowest of lows through depression as a doctoral candidate, she realized she needed to remap the course of her life. Yoga and meditation saved her life, and she decided to leave school to become a yoga and meditation teacher. Her, she found a sense of wonder and purpose. Armed with her medical background in human anatomy and physiology, she intends to ignite a passion for life in her students by leading them to their inner light through mindful alignment-based yoga and meditation practices.
She received her RYT200 certificate in San Francisco at Yoga Tree (now YogaWorks) and has worked with renowned teachers Darren Main, Mark Morford, Jason Bowman, and Simon Park. Hanna loves surfing and music and hopes her students feel as good leaving class as the ocean and music makes her feel. She hopes to share with the Afterglow community how amazing the Maui yoga community is and that yoga is for everybody and every body.
“Most of the time the universe speaks to us very quietly in pockets of silence, in coincidences, in nature, in forgotten memories, in the shape of clouds, in moments of solitude, in small tugs at our hearts.” – Yumi Sakugawa

Becky is lucky enough to call Maui home for 5 wonderful years. Once a dedicated practitioner of Bikram, her practice broadened after finding a love for Kundalini which unlocked the spiritual side of practice for her. Vinyasa is Becky’s regular practice these days, fueling her love of yoga through the energy of a group practice and movement she discovers in her own body. “I love yoga because everybody is a student and a teacher, and there’s always something new to learn”. Becky loves to backbend and play with flexibility, feeling grateful to so many teachers who have shown her so many ranges of motion within her body. You’ll find this to come through in her own teaches, as she strives to give that same gift to others in her classes at Afterglow.
In addition to her love for yoga, beachtime, reading, and spend time with family are some of her favorite things to do. She’s passionate about Philadelphia sports teams, and don’t hesitate to challenger her to a round of name-that-movie-quote, that’s her jam!
Chelsea has been fascinated with the healing power of movement since she can remember. She was born in this world to move and explore, her youth full of training and practicing dance, gymnastics, cheerleading, bodybuilding and more. This journey of play and exploration of movement led her to yoga in 2009 after her father passed on. This is where she discovered the depth of movement in relation to healing the emotional and mental bodies. Trained in Denver, CO at Samadhi Center for Yoga + Meditation, her main focus was in Tantra Hatha along with Anusara, Vinyasa, Forrest Yoga and Yoga Nidra. She initially taught in Denver, Oklahoma and for retreats around the world until landing in Maui in 2016. Her recent fascination is how we store emotions in our bodies, and through the awareness of this in unison with our breath and movement we can heal ourselves and embody a life we are truly in love with.
“When teaching yoga I love to empower students to explore what feels best in their bodies, through breath, play and alignment. To move deeper beyond the physical postures and into the essence of yoga and its relationship with our lives. Through this connection with yoga, we can learn to live in a place with more clarity, joy, grace and ease.”

She began practicing yoga one-on-one with an Anusara yoga instructor, in classes, and studying the body through reflexology and reiki.
During graduate school she completed her 200-hr yoga training in St. Louis in 2015. Yoga has become her passion and a way for her to connect with others. Her class style reflects her feelings of looking inward, going deep, and finding the alignment that works for each individual body. In the summer of 2016, after graduating from graduate school, she moved to Maui to be a teacher of the deaf and further her love for yoga.
